Reliability, affordability and customer focus; SaskEnergy releases 2020-21 Annual Report

SaskEnergy achieved strong financial and operational results in 2020-21 while maintaining its lowest commodity rate in more than 20 years. The Corporation reported net income from operations of $59 million and declared a dividend of $21 million to Crown Investments Corporation (CIC). “Despite the unprecedented challenges presented by the pandemic, SaskEnergy maintained an exceptional level of service to customers while also providing one of the lowest residential gas utility rates in the country,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy. “The reliability and affordability of...

Public Safety, Customer Growth, and Corporate Efficiency Initiatives Highlight SaskEnergy's 2015-16 Annual Report

Safe and reliable natural gas service continued to be the number one focus for SaskEnergy in 2015-16 as the corporation added more than 6,000 new customers to its distribution system, bringing its total customer base to nearly 387,000. SaskEnergy dedicated $107.5 million toward increasing safety throughout its buried infrastructure in 2015-16. SaskEnergy to Request Rate Adjustments; Customer Bills to Decrease

SaskEnergy customers could soon be paying less on their monthly natural gas bills after the corporation brings a request for adjustments to its commodity and delivery service rates to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel (SRRP). On June 29, 2023, SaskEnergy will apply to the SRRP for a 22.1 per cent decrease to the commodity rate, dropping it from $4.20 to $3.30 per gigajoule. At the same time, SaskEnergy will also bring forward a proposal for the SRRP to consider a five per cent delivery service rate increase. The combined commodity and delivery service rate adjustments will result in an...

Rekindling long-ago customer connection a career highlight for employee

A quarter century ago, our construction crews were a main attraction for children spending their summers at Kenosee Provincial Park. SaskEnergy employees worked for several summers to extend gas service to cabins in the area in the late 1990s. “Some kids, you couldn’t get rid of them. They’re pointing and looking; the parents want to go, but the kids want to stay and see us work,” says Dale Staudt, a Crew Lead with our southern Saskatchewan Construction team. “We would stop and explain what we were doing and show them. We’d stand back with the parent and watch one of our guys dig. For a small...

Building relationships with the people we serve

Ever wonder how new homes, cabins or businesses get connected to our natural gas system? SaskEnergy’s Customer Connect Technicians (CCTs) are instrumental to this process. Adam Colvine works as a CCT in Saskatoon and the surrounding rural area. He personally sees customers’ connection process through from start to finish, to make it as easy as possible to get service. “A highlight of the job is getting to know people, and hearing their stories of how and why they’re building their dream home or cabin. I like being a part of figuring out the best solutions that will help them realize their...
